Knitting and Spinning Festival in Rydal 2025

Knitting and Spinning Festival in Rydal!
October 11-12

On October 11-12, 2025, the Akleja Craft Shop, Rydal Museum, International Weaving Center, Tygriket, Rydals Herrgård, Marks Municipality, the Adult School in Mark and several others will collaborate on the event "Knitting and Spinning Festival in Rydal".

We want to give people with a common interest, knitting, and spinning an opportunity to meet to exchange experiences, learn new techniques, buy yarn and to make contacts with like-minded people but also to spread knowledge about knitting and spinning by inviting lecturers on related topics, organising workshops and short trial opportunities.

Vi kommer erbjuda en stor bredd av aktiviteter som utställning, föreläsningar, workshops, försäljning, ”Dogwalk” och prova på!

We want you to discover Rydal, Mark and Sjuhärad which is an area with craft traditions for yarn, spinning and textiles.

Textile history also includes people sitting at home knitting on small knitting machines. Which may not be as well known as sitting and weaving.

As the site has a history of spinning culture, it is particularly fitting to have this particular event here. The museum will be displaying its machines during the event and guided tours will tell the unique history of the place. Mark has many shops specialising in knitting. The International Weaving Centre will show and inform about spinning.

We also hope for long-distance visitors and that they will discover the fine accommodation options available locally in our beautiful nature.

We want to broaden the knowledge of our textile history, which also includes spinning and knitting. Rydal is the ultimate place for this, we think.

The full programme will be published later.
