Presentation about us:
In 2012, we published our book "Sticka flerfärgs stickning med lifty maskor" the same year we also started our company - 2stickare AB.
We mostly knit but also work with other crafts from time to time. In crafting, self-esteem grows and an idea that one can make it in the world. Doing is development, community, taking a stand, questioning....
Many years ago we were introduced to the technique "multi-colour knitting with lifted stitches" and became completely hooked. The work becomes more and more exploratory.
We are interested in how different patterns and color combinations together create new expressions. We work with our samples, testing colors and yarns. It's as easy as it gets, there will be many, infinitely many...
We are inspired by colors, what surrounds us, going out into town, looking at house walls, balconies, cobblestones, people, vegetable stalls at the market - of course that can be a fantastic test piece...
We like to travel a bit here and there, it's always so fun to meet knitters.
Optical knitting
Saturday 12/10 at 10.30-15.00
Sunday 13/10 at 10.30-15.00
Lunch break 11.30-12.30
Now you have the chance to try an interesting knitting technique called optical knitting, shadow knitting or illusion knitting.
Depending on the angle from which the knitted surface is viewed, different patterns appear and you get an almost three-dimensional effect.
It's easier than you think.
You get to knit the technique to understand the basic principle, you get to learn to interpret descriptions and diagrams and of course you get inspiration from pictures, literature and not least knitted garments and samples.
Bring:
Needles: No. 3 and 3.5
2 skeins Yarn with contrast (one color should be plain).
Wool yarn 6/2 is my favorite, but it works well with other smooth yarns, for example cotton or acrylic
Course leaders Maria Gustafsson and Irene Nyquist. Together they will hold the workshop. Maria Gustafsson is a trained textile teacher and has explored the technique of optical knitting since the 90s. Has, among other things, designed some models for Östergötland's Ullspinneri. Irene Nyquist uses the technique and has had a workshop at Öland's knitting festival.
Time: the workshop is available on both days 12 and 13 October

Double-ended knitting
Saturday 12/10 at 14 - 16.30 Sunday 13/10 FULLY BOOKED 10.30 - 13.00
Double-ended knitting is the name of an old Nordic knitting technique. As the word double-ended knitting says, you always knit with two thread ends, either from the same skein or from two different skeins. We will start by casting on stitches and knitting straight stitches in the traditional way, which is slightly different from how many of us usually knit today. Holding the yarn in the right hand is usually the big challenge.
Double crocheting a bracelet can be quite a challenge to start with if you don't want to start something bigger. The course is suitable for those of you who have not done double-ended knitting before, but also for those of you who have tried double-ended knitting before and want to rehearse to get started again.
When double-ended knitting, you usually use a 2-strand yarn that is Z-twisted, i.e. twisted in the opposite direction to the S-twisted yarn we usually use when we knit.
But for test knitting, S-twisted yarn will do if you cannot get hold of Z-twisted yarn.
The most important thing is that you have a strong yarn (that doesn't come off when you pull it) coarse size approx. 300 m/100g. You also need a set (5 pieces) double pointed needles size 2½ (or long circular needle if you can knit with magic loop).
Notepads and scissors are usually good to have with you.
To enjoy this workshop you should be used to knitting in the round on double pointed needles, the technique can also be knitted with magic loop if you prefer (but this is not something we teach during the course).
Course leader is Maria Gustafsson, Maria's yarn
