Try carding and spinning wool!
At the premises of the International Weaving Association, located inside the factory yard at Rydals Museum, you have the opportunity to try your hand at carding and spinning wool – both by hand and with a spinning wheel.
No pre-registration is required, and the activity is open to all ages.
Det kommer att hållas kortare pauser under dagen, och allt material som behövs för att testa finns på plats. Aktiviteten ingår i entrébiljetten.

Per Gustavsson is sitting at his spinning wheel, spinning and telling stories, sägner och gåtor kring linet. Samtidigt som tråden växer fram mellan fingrar spinns berättelsens tråd. Konstfullt slöjdade linfästen, bemålade skäkteträn och andra friargåvor inspirerar till berättelser. Publiken får följa vägen från linfrö till färdiga vävnader. Lecture " From sanity to what?" Anna Bauer, who has published books on "Hen Knitting", will talk about why she does it and about inspiration, colour-phobia and the importance of holding on. An artist talk with knitting in focus.

Per Gustavsson sits at his spinning wheel and spins and tells stories, legends and riddles surrounding the flax. As the thread grows between fingers, the story is spun. Artfully crafted flax brackets, painted sheaths and other gifts from suitors inspire stories. The audience can follow the path from flaxseed to finished fabrics. Per Gustavsson is a storyteller and author and a leading figure in the Swedish storytelling movement. Read more at www.pergustavsson.nu

Workshop " Blue colouring with indigo" Camilla from Hamra Gård
Over three hours you will learn the basics of Indigo dyeing and reservage techniques. Camilla shows how to create reservage and flame yarns by bundling, covering and tying the material.

"Dogwalk" "Hundskoj" in Rydal has a display of knitted outfits for dogs. En promenad med hund från Hundskoj till Museet entré. En konferencier beskriver klädseln vid entre´n.

”Stickhäng” platser; Välkommen att slå dig ner och sitta och sticka/spinna. En plats att samtala med andra som har samma intresse och byta erfarenheter. På museet finns ”Stickhäng” plats i “Lilla hallen”. Flera finns i Rullsalen på plan 2 där utställningen är, i Abbotsalen, Rydals Pelarsal, Akleja´s café och på plan 2 i öppna ytan inne i konferensen.

Lecture "What is a Fisherman's Gansey?" Anna Josefsson tells about the fisherman's jersey from The North Sea area. Each garment has its own story - symbols, color and choice of yarn.
Then she has a workshop in Gansey knitting.

Workshop " The Red Thread of Yarn - Plant Dyeing in Red Tones"
This is a workshop for the creative dyer! For three hours we will dye with different natural color pigments in the red, orange, yellow, purple color scale. We will go through different techniques for plant dyeing slub yarns, spotted yarns and shades using steaming and dyeing in a jar.
